What a busy week, and all generally sports related.
The early part of the week was heavily focused on calls with key riders and staff of the new Sky racing team.
On Wednesday I spent a great day up at Sports City in Manchester. This is a great facility where a lot of national sports are based. It is also the home of the North region of the English Institute of Sport.
My day was a day of back to back meetings with the senior EIS advisor and a number of our athlete clients.
My day ended up at the Velodrome, with meetings with some key members of the British Cycling team. We have been working with these guys for a while now, but it never ceases to amaze me at their professionalism and passion for their sport, and perhaps more importantly their focus and process towards achieving medals at the 2012 games.
The similarities between business and sport are often muted, but when you see a slick operation such as GB Cycling, led by the very impressive Dave Brailsford, then you realise that in some cases businesses can learn quite a bit from how they operate. Staff Development, team working communication and some very clear goals are all evident in everything they do.
As a team here, we are very proud to be associated with them.
Life in the office is back to normal now. Everyone has had their holidays, and has come back relaxed and refreshed. Client's too seem to have come back on a mission and our diary's are filling up.
The week finishes with our monthly five-a-side match. Watch out for Alan's post on the match next week.
